The Pilgrim's Progress

John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress follows the travels of a man named Christian as he fled the City of Destruction, found freedom from his guilt and sin at the cross, and journeyed on to the Celestial City, meeting  exciting new challenges all along the way.

But Pilgrim’s Progress is more than just an adventure story. Christian’s dangerous journey is the journey through life that each of us travels when we try to follow God. The characters, places, and events show us spiritual truths and challenges. They all have hidden meanings that teach us about the Christian life. For example, the book Christian reads represents the Bible and the Celestial City represents heaven. As we study The Pilgrim’s Progress, we will talk about the hidden meanings of the many characters and settings, and what our students can learn from them.

Each night we will watch a portion of The Pilgrim's Progress and discuss it, play games, eat together, and do a craft about the day's lesson.
